The Amphitheater is Back! Major Segment of East River Park Reopens Today at Corlears Hook, While Another Shuts
Good news for the south of Delancey, with bitter changes coming north of it.
After years of construction, another major portion of East River Park has re-opened to the public. The newly minted Corlears Hook Pedestrian Bridge will lead visitors straight into the renovated amphitheater and onto a path that connects East River Park with Pier 42 and the NYC Ferry stop. This is the biggest change to East River Park's geography since the grand opening of the area south of the Williamsburg Bridge on Memorial Day weekend this year.

Also, tennis players, if you weren't already happy enough this week with the US Open, six more courts are opening on the north side of the opened portion of the park. Have your day. Impress your friends with your backyard amenities. Make them regret leaving you for the excesses of Brooklyn. Have the last laugh.

For our neighbors just north of us in the East Village, genuine condolences for your slice of East River Park. On Monday, September 8th, the iconic East River Track and Esplanade are closing for at least three years of renovations; along with it, the East Houston Overpass and that poor excuse for a bridge called the East 6th Bridge. However, if the new portion of park south of the Williamsburg Bridge has shown us anything these past three months, it's that the wait is worth it.
Best of luck, and I'll see you at the Corlears Hook Pedestrian Bridge soon.
