Pair of Plots on Essex Sell for $5M
The two plots had previously sold for just $2.5 million in 2012.
Buildings 3 and 5 Essex were sold to Paint Store LLC on March 20th for $5.3 million, as reported by TradedNY. The two plots had previously sold for just $2.5 million in 2012.
There doesn't seem to be a current tenant at the storefront of the southern plot of land, formerly space rented out by Schames & Son Paints, who moved to Delancey Street a couple years back when demolition of the adjacent building destabilized their shared wall.
Not much activity on that site either, where demolition had taken place. This northern plot is home to the Cactus Store, a plant store only active partially through the year, when the weather is warmer. There is no sign of them there and no reply back when I reached out.
The demolished building was old but not a tenement building from the look of it. From StreetView in 2009, one can see it used to house a Chinese New Taoism Association and Dembitzer Bros., a discount electrical appliance store.
