Nolita's Rice to Riches Opens Location on Corner of Rivington and Ludlow
After more than 20 years of operation, Nolita's Rice To Riches opened its second ever location on December 22nd.
At first glance, the futurist yet neutral interior of their original location betrays the brand's reputation as being the project of founder Peter Moceo Jr., who, two years after founding the dessert shop, was arrested in 2005 after being charged with running a $22-million a year gambling ring along with his father per the New York Times.
After pleading not-guilty, Moceo posted bail for $25k and was released. I could not find any information on what the outcome his trial was.
By continuously occupying one of Nolita's most desirable and expensive storefronts on Prince St alongside stores like Aimé Leon Dore and Vuarnet, many New Yorkers love to question how the rice pudding shop has remained.

Previously, the 100 Rivington address was home to Tani (a shoe store) and a Steve Madden.
