LES City Council Candidates Have Submitted Their Statements; Release Begins on Wednesday

Seven candidates have accepted the offer.

About one month ago, East of the Bowery reached out to local candidates running for City Council in Districts 1 and 2 and offered them the opportunity to author their own post.

The only requirements? Follow a simple prompt: "What specific policy goals will your office achieve within 4 years to improve the Lower East Side?" and keep it to 2000 words.

From Wednesday (May 21st) forward we will post each District 2 candidate's statement in alphabetical order by their last name. District 1 candidates will have their statements posted in early June.

Early voting starts June 14th; Election Day is June 24th. Please remember that this is a Democratic primary election, and since New York State does not have open primaries, only registered Democrats can vote.
