It's Voting Time! Find Your Nearest Poll Site to Vote for Mayor, City Council, and More
Voting in the Lower East Side has kicked off too!
These are the 2025 Democratic Primaries, where you will be ranking your preferred options for city mayor, city comptroller, Manhattan borough president, city council, and some judges.
Many voting poll sites are open for early voting and election day voting. Your dedicated poll site might change if you vote on Election Day versus on an earlier date! Use findmypollsite.vote.nyc to find your voting site.
Many of the early voting locations are open from today, Monday the 16th through Sunday the 22nd. Hours vary, but 8AM or 9AM opening times are not uncommon, and neither are 8PM closing times.
There is no in-person voting on Monday the 23rd of June.
Election Day voting, though on a Tuesday (the 24th), has the most flexible hours; expect 6AM - 9PM but confirm using the website.
Remember that 95% of the Lower East Side below Houston is within City Council District 1, which means you are choosing between
Jess Coleman
Elizabeth Lewinsohn
Christopher Marte (incumbent)
Eric Yu
to be your city councilmember.
The ranked choice voting system is in place, so according to NYCvotes.org, you can rank up to five candidates in order of preference, instead of choosing just one. If a candidate receives more than 50% of 1st-choice votes, they are the winner. If no candidate earns more than 50% of 1st-choice votes, then counting will continue in rounds. At the end of each round, the candidate with the fewest votes will be eliminated. If you ranked that candidate 1st, your vote will go to the next highest ranked candidate on your ballot. This process will continue until there are two candidates left. The candidate with the most votes wins. You can still vote for just one candidate, and leave rankings on your ballot blank.
See you at the polls and encourage your neighbors to vote!
