Chronically Empty Corner Building on Grand and Ludlow Put Up For Sale
Address has been unoccupied for nearly 20 years.
Saw this sign on 341 Grand St. while walking past on the weekend. It's on the corner of Grand and Ludlow Street. It initially caught my eye because it's adjacent to Lou Reeds' first Lower East Side apartment (56 Ludlow), the tenement building you see off to the right of the second picture.
I find it pretty likely that the building will be sold and torn down. The building is no gem, plus it's racked up several violations over the years due to its decrepit state. Prime real estate though for any developer, especially on such heavily trafficked sidewalks.
There's been nothing there since even before 2009, so I can't really say much will have been lost.
